About Peluru Senja: The Ghost and The Gun
Peluru Senja: The Ghost and The Gun is a historical war film set in Malaya in 1948, during the turbulent years that followed the end of World War II. The story follows a Malay soldier and a British soldier who are left behind after British forces withdraw. Together, they must set aside old enmities to defend a village from an armed insurgent group.
The film is directed by Anshul Tiwari, an India-born filmmaker based in Singapore, from a screenplay by Abhi Kumar. Tiwari spent four years developing the project after receiving the story from Abhi Kumar, before production finally came together in 2025.
The principal cast includes:
- Hazman Al Idrus as Ishraq Wan (“Iz”)
- Fabian Loo as Chin Liu
- Asmara Abigail as Siti
- Brett Tutor as Abraham Bennett (“Abe”)
The supporting cast includes Indra Pacique as Faisal, Lupeng Rasyid as Zul, Zidan El Hafiz as Muda, and Nobuyuki Suzuki as Major Suneya.
Produced in the Viking Sunset Studios Ecosystem: 14 Sets to Recreate 1948 Malaya
Peluru Senja was born within the Viking Sunset Studios ecosystem. Viking Sunset Studios is one of the production companies behind the film, and to bring 1948 Malaya to life, 14 purpose-built period sets were constructed on the Viking Sunset Studios backlot in Tabanan, Bali. Production took place at Viking Sunset Studios facilities and across Bali’s natural locations, with hands-on support from the studio.
The one-hectare backlot brings together a black sand beach, terraced rice fields, forest, a river, and a sea cave in a single coastal setting in Beraban. Bo H. Holmgreen, producer and CEO of Viking Sunset Studios, has described the film as one of the first war films to complete its entire shoot in Bali. Full details are available on the Peluru Senja film page and in the article “Peluru Senja: Shot on Location in Bali.”
Cast and crew from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, and the United States worked together at Viking Sunset Studios facilities and across Bali’s natural locations.
The Team Behind the Film
The producers of Peluru Senja are Debasmita Dasgupta, Mikail Chowdhury, Tim Willrich, and Bo H. Holmgreen. The executive producers are Vivian Ikdayah, Jessie White, AJ Leon, and Mohsen Ashraf. Boban James is the director of photography, and Robyn Patrick is the music composer.
The film is produced by FilmsPositive, Limbo Pictures, Viking Sunset Studios, and LDNO, with 13 Entertainment as the distributor in Indonesia.
The Journey So Far
The journey of Peluru Senja began in Bali. In May 2025, Viking Sunset Studios highlighted the film as a production underway at its facilities, and the production partners planned a dedicated reception at the Cannes Film Festival to introduce it to international distributors, producers, and media.
On August 22, 2026, the film held its gala premiere at GSC LaLaport BBCC in Kuala Lumpur, with MSK Cinemas Sdn Bhd as distribution partner. It then opened in Malaysia and Brunei on August 28, 2026, coinciding with Malaysia’s Merdeka week. A full account of the evening is available in the article “Viking Sunset Studios at the Gala Premiere of Peluru Senja.”
Today, October 23, 2026, the film premieres in Indonesia at CGV Pacific Place in Jakarta, and screens in Jakarta, Bandung, Bekasi, Karawang, and Tangerang. Peluru Senja: The Ghost and The Gun is also featured on the Viking Sunset Studios Our Work page, alongside Semusim, Bandit, and Black Dragon.

Bring Your Production to Bali
Wherever AI fits into a workflow, the crew still has to run it, the director still has to shape it, and the studio still has to deliver it. Viking Sunset Studios brings together a soundproof soundstage, a production and fixer team on the ground in Tabanan, and a crew that knows exactly where a fast AI draft ends and real filmmaking begins. If you’re planning a production and want a team that treats new tools as a way to work smarter, not a way to cut corners, we’d love to talk.
